Adi Nachshon
Adi Nachshon‘s sculptures uncover a fantastic, threatening and perverted world that is a breeding ground for terrifying, demonic man-animal hybrids. Dinozex3 (2008) is made up of three human-faced dinosaur- or alien-like creatures. The realistic rendering of detail on the painted cast fiberglass heightens the figures' threatening grotesque realness. Their image seems to have been concocted through mixing materials from horror films, BDSM, Heavy Metal and comic strips - a combination of fantasy, violence and eroticism. They simultaneously hark back to medieval Gargoyles. In their earlier predecessors, this stamping out of conventional codes and dissolution of hierarchies between man and animal were a metaphor for hell. The mutation of this extinct relic into futuristic fantasy is used by Nachshon as a psychological allegory for contemporary infernos.
