Moshe Gershuni
In his work Crawling (1970), Moshe Gershuni is seen crawling down a sand dune, dressed in an Israeli army uniform. This act, which was broadcast in Israel on Jacques Katmor's television program, is related to the structure of the screen, upon which images of the crawling artist are superimposed in the form of two intersecting diagonals. In this manner, the duplicated images of the artist's body form an X, which voids and cancels out the action it performs - an ironic and symbolic statement given this action's military context.
