Gordon Matta-Clark
In Gordon Matta Clark's work Clockshower (1973), the viewer discovers that a series of everyday activities - shaving, brushing teeth, showering - are taking place at the top of a gigantic watchtower. The daring location in which these quotidian acts take place endows them with an absurd quality. This experience is amplified by the surprising shift that takes place as the camera zooms out.
