Buky Schwartz
Buky Schwartz's work Video Constructions (1978-1980), examines a live sculptural process undertaken in relation to the body. Schwartz enters and exits a series of geometric forms; while some of them are three-dimensional structures made of poles, others are delineated in two dimensions with masking tape applied to a flat screen. In this manner, Schwartz creates uncertainty as to the degree of truth or illusion involved in the three-dimensional appearance of each form, and portrays an elusive and uncertain reality within which the artist is physically trapped.
